Storm Survive 7-5 Win Over Petrolia
The Mooretown Storm allowed Petrolia back in the game but managed to hold on for a 7-5 win to move to 3-0 in the playoffs.

Family Day and a chance for everyone to have a long weekend wrapped up with a battle with their arch rival Petrolia Oilers.  Coming into the game the Oilers held a 1 point lead on Mooretown but the Storm had one game in hand.  The last time the two teams met it was a feisty affair but Mooretown skated away with a sizable victory.  Mooretown would trip out of the gate once again as Petolia scored just 34 seconds into the game.  Mooretown would respond quickly as Dominic Aliperti scored exactly 1 minute later to tie the game at 1 unassisted.  Alliperti would make it 2-1 as Braeden Hunt and Cam Crowley would set up the big centre.  MacKenzie Lumley would get the next one unassisted to put Mooretown up 3-0 with 3:08 left in the opening stanza and the Storm would carry that lead to the second.  Mooretown would start to run into penalty trouble in the second as Colton Williamson wouls be tagged for hooking and on the same paly Dominic Aliperti would keep Williamson company with a body contact penalty to put the Storm down to 5 on 3.  It wouldn’t take long for Petrolia to take advantage of the extra ice as they fired home a power play maker just 43 seconds in to make it 3-2.  Mooretown would kill off the ensuing 5 on 4 to keep their 1 goal lead.  Aliperti would make amends for his penalty as he fired home his hat trick goal with an assist to Braeden Hunt to regain a 2 goal lead.  Chloe Plain would make it 5-2 as she grabbed a rebound off a post shot from Aliperti  with 7:05 remaining in the second.  Dominic would head back to the penalty box with 4:22 left in the second but the Petrolia power play wouldn’t last long as they we tagged 46 seconds later and the teams would play 4 on 4.  Neither team would score through the rest of the second.  The third would start off with a goal by Petrolia just 57 seconds into pull the Oilers to within 2 once again.  Aliperti would respond once again unassisted 49 seconds later but the Oliers would not give up.  As they scored twice in 11 seconds to make is a 6-5 game with 10:23 left in the game.  Mackenzie Lumley would give Mooretown some breathing room as he poked home a loose puck while on the power play to make it 7-5 with 8:23 left.  The Storm would see Aliperti head to the box for interference but his penalty killers would bail him out.  Josh Raymond would get tagged for hooking followed quickly by Coltan Beauvais who was given an elbowing call at the same time as a Petrolia player so the teams would pay 5 on 4.  The Oilers would make it 4 on 4 less than a minute later.  In the confusion of the various penalties Beauvais would jump on the ice and the Storm would be given a too many men penalty with 1:27 remaining.  The Oilers would pull their goalie but the Storm kept their opponents at bay to pull off the 7-5 win.  Once again the team showed some good heads up passes however the defensive zone was less than stellar giving up too many rebound goals after Gladwish made the first save.  Next up for Mooretown a date in Ridgetown for a game against the Rebels.
